100-bed hospital established in Afghan eastern province

Afghan Health Ministry has established a 100-bed hospital in eastern Nangarhar Province amid concerns over outbreak of COVID-19.
Officials of the ministry say although no positive case of coronavirus has been registered in this province, the virus is more likely to spread to other parts of the country.
In the meantime, following an increase in the number of positive coronavirus cases, president Ghani has stressed the importance of raising awareness among people. Ghani has urged relevant bodies to take precautionary measures against the virus.
The president has also instructed local officials in north to cancel New Year festivities and avoid gatherings. So far, seven positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in western Herat and northern Samangan Province.
