13,000 tons of citrus harvested in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said it had harvested more than 13,000 tons of citrus in the country in the past year alone.
The harvested fruits include Tangerine, Mandarin, orange and lemon. Nangarhar province alone has harvested more than 7,000 tons of Tangerine, Mandarin, orange and lemon. 52 acres of land in Nangarhar are covered by citrus gardens.
The Ministry of Agriculture also added that in recent years, nurturing of saplings has increased in Kabul, Takhar, Balkh and Sar-e-Pul provinces.
According to the ministry, a total of 1,952 acres of land across the country are covered by citrus orchards, of which 61 acres include Mandarin and Tangerine, 415 acres include orange and 449 acres include lemon orchards.
