Afghan security forces have arrested 16 armed Taliban fighters linked to three terrorist groups along with a number of weapons in southern Kandahar Province.

Hayatullah Hayat, Kandahar provincial governor told reporters on 8 April that the detainees were busy carrying and organizing destructive attacks in Kandahar City.

He added that the Taliban militants were arrested over the past two weeks by the National Directorate of Security, NDS, forces from various parts of the province.

Taliban have not commented on the subject.
