170 Taliban fighters surrender in Herat, Ghor provinces

More than 170 Taliban fighters have surrendered to Afghan security forces in western Herat and Ghor provinces, the defense ministry said in a statement.
Three commanders of the Taliban, Abdullah, Mohammad Yousuf and Mullah Sarwar surrendered to Afghan forces with 160 fighters in Jam, Sher Bacha and Astora villages of Shahrak Ghor district of Ghor provinces and 12 others led by Nasruddin, surrendered to Afghan forces with their weapons in Chesht-e Sharif district of Herat province.
At least 582 anti-government militants in Shahrak Ghor and Chesht-e Sharif districts of Ghor and Herat have surrendered to Afghan forces in the past one month, the statement further added.
