The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Thursday reported 1,822 new Covid-19 cases and 56 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The ministry also said that 409 people recovered during this period.

According to the latest statistics, the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country has reached 87,716, of which 3,412 have died.

The health ministry warns that Afghanistan will experience its worst situation in the next four weeks.

Voicing concerns about the rising covid-19 deaths, officials said their findings from schools and universities in five provinces showed that about 32 per cent of students had contracted the coronavirus.
