At least 20 Taliban fighters including a commander and shadow district chief of the group were killed and injured during clashes with Afghan forces in northern Sar-e Pol Province.

A group of Taliban fighters carried out attacks from several directions on security forces’ outposts  on Jowjzan-Sar-e Pol highway late last night. The attacks were pushed back by Afghan security forces and as a result, ten Taliban fighters including one of their commanders were killed and ten others including the group’s shadow district chief for Sayyad were injured, Provincial Governor Spokesman Zabihullah Amani said.

Th clashes also left one Afghan army soldier killed and 15 others wounded, Amani added.
