The National Directorate of Security (NDS) reported it had arrested 22 Daesh fighters in eastern Nangarhar Province.

Local officials in Nangarhar said the detainees included two suicide bombers and individuals who were behind assassinations in the country.

The men were arrested after unidentified gunmen shot dead a policeman in Jalalabad yesterday.

In a separate report, Nangarhar governor’s office said in a statement that a commander of Daesh was killed during an operation in Lalpur district of the province.

Another Daesh member and three suspected individuals were also arrested during the operation, the statement added.
