The 209 military corps in Afghan north, said that at least 16 Taliban militants were killed and more ten others got injured in an overnight aerial operation in Balkh district.

Spokesman for 209 Corps Hanif Rezai has said that Afghan forces also repelled an aggressive attack by the Taliban on Balkh district.

The statement further added that no casualties has been inflicted on Afghan security forces during the operation.

In a separate report, 209 Corps said that 20 Taliban fighters have been killed after Afghan forces pounded their hideout in the outskirts of Qarqin district in Jowzjan province.
