34 freed from Taliban-run prison in Herat

Afghan commando forces released 34 people from a Taliban-run prison in western Herat Province.
The commando forces raided the prison last night in Adraskan district, which resulted in the release of 34 military and civilian inmates, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.
11 army personnel, seven policemen, three air force members, five project staff, seven civil servants and a popular uprising force were freed from the prison, the MoD statement added.
Six armed Taliban fighters were killed by the Afghan forces during the raid.
The Taliban have so far not commented on the report.
