At least 36 Taliban fighters were killed in aerial and ground operations conducted by Afghan forces in Maiwand and Maroof districts of southern Kandahar Province.

The aerial strike and ground operation killed 36 Taliban fighters and injured 16 others, Provincial Police Spokesman Jamal Naser Barekzai said.

Afghan security forces also seized quantity of light and heavy weapons during the operations, Barekzai added.

Taliban have not yet commented on the report.
