At least 43 Afghan security forces including several civilians were freed from a Taliban prison in Zabul Province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Saturday.

Of the released hostages, 20 individuals including 4 civilians were transferred to Qalat City and the remaining joined Afghan security forces in various parts of Zabul, the statement added.

The released Afghan soldiers vowed to take up arms again and defend the country, the statement further added.
