The Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), Abdullah Abdullah, in response to introduction of the new governor for Faryab, said that the viewpoint and support of the people should be taken into account while appointing officials in key provincial posts.

“At a time when the country and people of Afghanistan need unity, solidarity and political consensus to support the system, the defense and security forces, we must refrain from raising issues that affect the system, “Abdullah said.

Mr. Abdullah called for resolving the Faryab problem through dialogue and understanding with political leaders and the people.

This comes as protests to the introduction of the new governor for Faryab have continued for the third consecutive day. Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, leader of Hezb –e Junbesh, has urged his supporters not to let the new governor to take office.

The central government introduced Dawood Laghmani, as the new governor for Faryab, at an army base on Monday.
