Afghan district chief survives armed attack

The administrative chief of Herat’s Shindand district, Hekmatullah Hekmat, survived an armed attack on Monday, according to local officials.
Mr. Hekmat’s convoy came under Taliban attack when he was traveling from Herat City to Shindand district.
Four individuals accompanying Shindand district chief were injured during clashes with the Taliban.
In a separate report, Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, has described the recent attacks targeting religious scholars, civil society activists and media workers a crime against humanity.
The Taliban have consistently denied their involvement in recent targeted killings.
