Afghan security forces have cleared Nawa and Nad Ali districts of southern Helmand Province of the Taliban, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Tuesday.

Fighting is still ongoing between Afghan security forces and the Taliban fighters in other parts of Helmand, where Afghan forces have been making progresses on the ground since the past several days, the statement added.

At least 100 Taliban fighters were killed and injured during Afghan forces’ operations, the statement further added.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the report.

This comes as the Ministry of Defense said earlier it had sent fresh soldiers to Helmand.
