Afghan security forces have retaken Bangi and Khwaja Ghar districts of Takhar Province from the Taliban fighters, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Monday.

Afghan army soldiers along with public uprising forces conducted an operation in the above-mentioned districts. The operation was supported by air forces, the statement added.

In a separate report, the defense ministry has dispatched fresh forces to northern Faryab Province.

This comes as many districts in north of Afghanistan have fallen to the Taliban.
