Kaldar district of northern Balkh Province has been cleared of the Taliban, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said Monday.

Nearly 20 Taliban insurgents were killed and dozens more wounded during an operation conducted by Afghan security forces and public uprising forces in the district, the defense ministry’s statement said.

The Taliban were pushed back from the outskirts of Kaldar district during the operation, the statement added.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the report.
