Afghan ministry of defense has sent a fact-finding team to Mazar-e-Sharif to investigate civilian casualties in Boka district of northern Balkh Province.

The ministry in a released statement said it would seriously investigate the incident if any casualty is inflicted on civilians. The incident triggered protests from local residents.

On Sunday, residents of Balkh district while carrying corpses of seven members of a family in Mazar City, accused the government forces of killing civilians in their air raids.

Local residents also say that clashes between the Taliban and Afghan forces claim lives on a daily basis and has left dozens of families homeless in Balkh district.
