Speaking at a press conference, broadcast live, from mainstream TV channels in Afghanistan on Tuesday (12 November), Ashraf Ghani said that three Taliban prisoners including Anas Haqqani, brother of Serajuddin Haqqani, Hafiz Rashid Omari and Haji Mali Khan, had been released from prison on conditional basis.

The Taliban high-profile officials are freed in exchange for the release of two American university lecturers held captive by the Taliban.

The release of the Taliban key members takes place a day after the visit of Pakistan’s ISI chief to Kabul.
