Afghan president, Iranian FM meet in Turkey

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has met with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sideline of Istanbul Process-Heart of Asia Conference held on 8-9 December in Istanbul city of Turkey.
The two sides discussed expansion of bilateral ties and economic cooperation between Kabul and Tehran, the President Palace said in a released statement.
Iranian foreign minister said his country hoped that the current conflict in Afghanistan is ended and the achievements in the peace process are preserved.
He also expressed his country’s support for an election in Afghanistan that is based on principles of the Afghan constitution.
For his part, President Ghani has called for Iran’s cooperation in combating terrorism and has emphasized the expansion of relations between the two countries.
