Afghan president sacks minister of finance
23 Jan 2021
Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday sacked Finance Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal.
The reasons for the dismissal of Mr. Arghandiwal were his procrastination in revenue collection, lack of cooperation with the joint commission to investigate illegal regulations in the Ministry of Finance, weak management, lack of commitment to the values of good governance and non-compliance with Article 77 of the Constitution, the Office of Chief of Staff to the president said Saturday in a statement.
Mr. Arghandiwal has so far not reacted to the decision.
In a separate ruling, the president has introduced Mohammad Khalid Payenda as the new acting minister of finance.
