Abdullah Abdullah from Stability and Convergence team announced his team was the winner of the presidential elections held on 28 September.

At a press conference aired live by a number of Afghan media outlets on 30 September, Abdullah said:” There would be no runoff, the Stability and Convergence team will form the next government.”

Elsewhere, Abdullah added that the “people of Afghanistan voted against dictatorship, tyranny and ethnic discrimination.”

According to the Independent Election Commission, the preliminary results for the presidential polls will be announced on 19 October and the final results would be announced on November 7.
