Afghan security chief killed in mine blast in Kandahar

A roadside mine explosion killed Rahmatullah Achakzai, head of security of Kandahar’s Arghestan district.
According to local security sources, Achakzai and his bodyguard was killed after their vehicle hit a roadside mine.
In a separate report, the ministry of defense said in a statement that security forces had killed 13 armed Taliban in Kandahar Province.
13 Taliban fighters were killed and 12 others got injured in the outskirts of Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar Province after Afghan forces carried out an attack on them, the statement added.
Afghan forces also reported to have neutralized 33 mines in Sha Wali Kot district.
