Afghan special forces arrive in Helmand – MoD

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Tuesday it had dispatched additional Afghan special forces to southern Helmand Province to fight the Taliban.
The special forces cleared highway 601 of the Taliban and landmines and arrived in Helmand province last night, the statement added.
In the meantime, Mohammad Yasin Zia, the chief of staff of the National Army, assured the forces that the situation in Lashkar Gah would improve soon.
Fighting between security forces and the Taliban has been going on for more than two weeks on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah and parts of Helmand.
