Afghan, US presidents hold telephone conversation

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and his US counterpart Joe Biden discussed the continuation of relations between the two countries over a phone call.
Mr. Biden assured his country’s support for the Afghan security and defense forces and said that these forces would defend Afghanistan, the Presidential Palace said.
The two leaders stressed the importance of Afghans working together to ensure peace and security, as well as sustained partnership, continued diplomatic and economic assistance to the Afghan government, security and defense forces, and preserving the achievements of the past two decades, the statement added.
