Afghanistan registers 259 new COVID-19 cases

Afghanistan’s Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported it registered 259 positive cases of the coronavirus out of 619 suspected samples in the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry, 49 cases have been registered in Balkh, 29 cases in Kandahar, 27 cases in Kabul, 25 cases in Takhar, 23 cases in Nangarhar, 22 cases in Herat, 10 cases in Kunar, 10 cases in Parwan, 8 cases in Badghis, 7 cases in Jowzjan, 6 cases in Wardak, 6 cases in Logar, 5 cases in Panjshir, 5 cases in Daikundi, 3 cases in Zabul, 3 cases in Kunduz, 3 cases in Nimruz, 2 cases in Farah, 2 cases in Bamyan, 2 cases in Helmand, 1 case in Zabul and 1 case in Laghman province.
Five people have also died of the virus in Logar, Samangan, Herat and Jowzjan provinces and 42 others have recovered.
The total number of COVID-19 cases has reached 5,226 in Afghanistan of which 132 have died due to the virus.
