Afghanistan’s Public Health Ministry on Saturday reported it had registered 556 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus out of 1,065 suspected samples in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus to 24,102 countrywide.

253 cases have been registered in Kabul, 74 cases in Balkh, 43 cases in Nangarhar, 28 cases in Takhar, 23 cases in Kandahar, 23 cases in Bamyan, 22 cases in Baghlan, 20 cases in Wardak, 17 cases in Kunar, 12 cases in Logar, 9 cases in Zabul, 8 cases in Nimruz, 8 cases in Ghazni, 5 cases in Helmand, 3 cases in Laghman and two cases in Uruzgan province, according to the ministry.

Also, 5 COVID patients have died of the virus and 273 others have recovered, taking the total number of deaths to 451 and recovered to 4,201.
