Afghanistan reports 172 new COVID-19 cases

Afghanistan on Monday reported 172 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus infections to 1,703.
The new cases have been registered in 17 provinces over the past 24 hours, Public Health Ministry Spokesman Wahidullah Mayar told a press conference.
“The new positive cases include 34 from Balkh, 33 from Herat, 27 from Kabul, 21 from Kandahar, eight from Paktia, eight from Baghlan, seven from Kunduz, five from Sar-e pol, five cases from Ghor, four cases from Samangan, four cases from Nimruz, three cases from Faryab, three cases from Nangarhar, three cases from Laghman, three cases from Khost, two cases from Helmand, one case from Panjshir and one case from Paktika Province,” he said.
13 people have also been recovered over the past 24 hours bringing to tally to 220 countrywide. Also, seven people have lost their lives of the COVID-19 within the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 57.
158 personnel of the health ministry have been infected with the virus as well, Mayar further added.
