Afghanistan reports 179 new COVID-19 cases, total 2,469

Afghanistan on Saturday reported that 179 new positive cases of COVID-19 were registered in the past 24 hours.
Speaking at a press conference, Health Ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said that the new cases were registered in 12 provinces, bringing the total number of infected people to 2,469.
Mayar said that 179 out of 591 samples from 12 provinces came back positive in the last 24 hours.
The new cases include Kabul with 75, Herat with 23, Balkh with 18, Jowzjan with 16, Kandahar with 15, Ghazni with 10, Baghlan with 7, Logar with 5, Takhar with 4, Ghor with 3, Zabul with 2 and Helmand with 1, Mayar added.
Four people have also died of the virus in Balkh, Herat, Khost and Kunduz provinces within the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 72. Also 339 people have been recovered, according to the health ministry.
