A three-day exhibition aimed at expanding trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has been held in Kabul.

Head of Afghanistan’s Trade Union Abdul Hadi Farhang, said inauguration of the exhibition helps further improve friendly relations between the two countries.

“The purpose of holding this exhibition in Afghanistan is that there are no problems in our borders and trade and economic relations between the two countries are developing,” said Malkov Yarqin, vice president of Uzbekistan Exporters’ Union.

The Uzbek Exporters’ Union considers Afghanistan the best country in the region for investment, and the two countries’ private sectors are pushing for increased trade relations between Kabul and Tashkent, he added.

Head of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Industries and Mines, Sakhi Ahmad Payman, said internal factors have slowed the economic turnaround in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the ministries of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Livestock said that efforts were underway to solve the existing problems in this field and to create marketing opportunities for goods inside and outside the country.

Although Afghan businessmen see rising insecurity, widespread corruption and complicated tax system as the biggest barriers to investment in the country, the government has promised to remove the barriers shortly.
