The chief physician of 209 Shaheen Corps and his driver were killed in an attack in northern Balkh Province, police said.

Saleh Mohammad Samim, chief physician of the 209 Shaheen Corps, and his driver were targeted by unidentified gunmen in the fifth district of Mazar-e-Sharif, spokesman for Balkh Police Adel Shah Adel said.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

This comes as three women were killed in the same area several weeks ago.
