The ministry of interior affairs said in a statement Saturday that a 9-year-old boy had been abducted five days earlier in the Khairkhaneh area and that the kidnappers had demanded USD 500,000 from his family in exchange for his release.

The child was released during a joint operation by police and anti-crime forces, and the kidnappers managed to escape, the statement added.
