Clashes between Afghan security forces and individuals loyal to Nezamuddin Qaisari, a local commander, accused of “bullying and grabbing properties of people”, are underway in Mazar-e-Sharif City.

Balkh police says it has launched an operation since last night to arrest Qaisari.

Provincial Police Spokesman Adel Shah Adel says that clashes are underway in 5th police precinct of Mazar where Qaisari’s residence is located.

Individuals loyal to Qaisari have been using light and heavy weapons during the clashes that so far left two security forces injured, he said.

Security forces have failed to arrest Qaisari so far.
