COVID-19 cases surge to 239 in Afghanistan

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases surged to 239 on Wednesday, according to Afghan health ministry.
“Over the past 24 hours, 41 positive cases surfaced in western Herat Province, that include 24 men and 17 women. Two more cases were registered in the capital Kabul,” Health Ministry Spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said.
Earlier, the ministry had warned that half of Afghanistan population would get infected to COVID-19 if people do not take the ministry’s instructions seriously.
Meanwhile, the Afghan government has once against insisted on imposition of strict measures in Kabul and other provinces to contain the virus.
President Ghani via a video conference with provincial governors of Balkh, Faryab, Samangan, Jowzjan and Sar-e Pol provinces asked them to provide a list of destitute and need people to government so that it could deliver aid to those who need it the most.
