Death toll from recent floods in Afghanistan rises to 36

The death toll from recent floods in Herat and Ghor provinces of Afghanistan has risen to 36, according to local officials.
Flooding in a number of districts of Herat Province has so far killed 24 people and hundreds of livestock and caused huge financial losses.
Meanwhile, local officials in Ghor say that 12 people have been killed and many others injured in floods in the province.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the governor of Badakhshan Province, Nik Mohammad Nazari, said that as a result of the floods in Kishm, Khash, Jurm, Yaftal and Tagab districts of the province, 300 houses and thousands of acres of land were destroyed and huge financial damages were inflicted to people.
A relief team has arrived in the flood-affected area to rescue those trapped, he added.
