Almar district in northern Faryab Province has completely fallen to the Taliban, some provincial council members said.

The Taliban captured an army base after several days of fighting and later took control of Almar district, they added.

Several security force members were killed during the firefight, and some of them were transferred to a security base, a few kilometers from Almar.

But Faryab provincial police spokesman denied the complete fall of Almar district, stressing that security forces had relocated to another base to prevent casualties.
