Police in Baghlan Province reported on Saturday it had killed and injured at least 30 armed Taliban fighters in the province in the past 24 hours.

Taliban fighters carried out aggressive attacks on Baghlan-e Markazi, Dahna-e Ghori and Khost districts, but faced strong resistance from Afghan police forces. 20 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 others got injured in the incident, Provincial Police Spokesman Jawid Basharat said.

An Afghan police soldier was killed during the firefight, Basharat added.

The Taliban has not commented on the report.
