Eight civilians killed in roadside mine blast in Balkh

A roadside mine explosion claimed the lives of eight civilians in Chemtal district of northern Balkh province.
Security officials said the incident took place on Sunday (1 September) in which seven men and a woman lost their lives.
Abdullah Masroor, member of Balkh provincial council said that Taliban had reached the city gates and the government has had no plan to reclaim the lost regions.
Meanwhile, spokesman for 209 Corps in north Hanif Rezaee says the situation in northern Balkh is not worrying.
He added that Afghan security forces’ operations are underway in volatile areas from three directions and more than 400 Taliban fighters were killed and injured during the past four days.
According to reports, in addition to Kunduz, Afghan security forces are engaged in fighting with the Taliban fighters in Balkh, Jowzjan, Faryab, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces in north and northeast of the country.
