Eleven Taliban prisoners freed in exchange for three Indian engineers

Afghanistan has freed 11 Taliban prisoners in exchange for securing the release of three Indian engineers.
Sources close to Taliban say, the release of the 11 Taliban prisoners took place in Baghlan province of Afghanistan.
Pakistani media outlets also reported that the decision to release the 11 Taliban prisoners was made during US Peace Envoy Khalilzad’s visit to Pakistan and his meeting with Taliban leaders.
The freed Taliban from Bagram Prison in north Kabul, include Sheikh Abdul Rahim and Mawlawi Abdul Rashid, who had served as shadow governors of the Taliban in Kunar and Nimruz provinces.
Seven Indian engineers working for a power plant in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan Province were kidnapped in May 2018.
