EU concerned over spike in civilian casualties in Afghanistan

The European Union has voiced concern over a rise in violence and civilian casualties in Afghanistan.
The union has in a statement on the occasion of the International Peace Day has once again called on the Taliban to halt violence and declare a ceasefire as soon as possible.
This comes as Afghanistan has witnessed a spike in violence over the last several days that claimed the lives of dozens of civilians.
In the meantime, the Afghan interior ministry announced that 100 civilians were killed and 230 others were injured in Taliban attacks over the past 24 hours in the country.
The Taliban group has not yet commented on the report.
