The EU mission in Afghanistan has urged all Afghan parties to reach a political agreement as soon as possible.

“Each day that passes without a consolidated governmental team exposes the Afghan population to greater dangers, undermines the credibility of the democratic institutions and discourages European partners, “the mission said in a statement.

It also added that “the page of elections was turned. Now Afghanistan needs to open a new chapter and set up an inclusive government to address peace as a matter of urgency.”

Elsewhere, the EU called on the Afghan government and Taliban to work jointly against the COVID-19.

“COVIDー19 in #Afghanistan will not be magically contained & solved through an “invisible hand”. It requires full cooperation between humans, even ennemies. Together, not against each other. The enemy has changed; it is now called #coronavirus. Need to adapt to this new reality,” the statement reads.
