An explosion in Charikar, the center of Parwan Province left at least 24 people killed and more than 30 others wounded. The casualties included children and there are fears the number of victims could rise.

According to local officials, the blast occurred at a gathering of supporters of Ashraf Ghani’s electoral team today morning.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses say that the explosion happened at the entrance of the venue hosting the rally. 

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

In a separate report, a suicide attack took place at Massoud Square in Kabul today afternoon.

Confirming the incident, the Afghan ministry of interior affairs did not give further details about casualties.
