Family of Nakamura in Afghanistan to bring body home

The wife, daughter and relatives of the Japanese Physician Dr Tetsu Nakamura have arrived in Kabul on Friday and met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Afghan president has described the slain Nakamura as a hardworking and great personality and thanked him for his effective activities in eastern provinces.

Dr Nakamura began working in Afghanistan more than a decade ago in field of water management, agriculture and creating irrigation system.

President Ghani said:” The projects that were implemented by Dr Nakamura in eastern part of Afghanistan in particular in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces will be named after him.

Members of Dr Nakamura’s family and Japanese ambassador to Afghanistan Mitsuji Suzuka have thanked the people of Afghanistan for their sympathy.

Dr Nakamura who was awarded as an honorary Afghan citizen was killed along with five of his Afghan colleagues by unknown armed men in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar Province.

Afghan president says efforts are underway to identify and arrest perpetrators of the attack.
