The first round of polio vaccination campaign in 2023 has begun today in Afghanistan.

More than five million children under the age of five will be vaccinated in sixteen provinces of the country during the campaign, the Ministry of Public Health, MoPh, announced on Monday.

The ministry also said that only two positive cases of polio were reported in Paktika and Kunar provinces last year, which shows a significant decrease compared to the previous two years.
