A four-member kidnapper gang has been arrested in southern Kandahar Province, local officials said.

“The arrest has been made after the kidnapping group involving two men and two women had abducted a child and asked for 500,000 Afghani [ 1 dollar equal to 78.20 Afghani] in exchange for his release,” Provincial Governor Spokesman Ahmad Wali Ahmadi said.

Local officials in Kandahar also say that the level of in particular kidnappings crimes in the province have declined significantly compared to previous year.
