Heavy clashes underway in Afghan northern Takhar province

Afghan security forces are engaged in heavy clashes with the Taliban insurgents in Iskamesh and Baharak districts of northern Takhar Province.
According to Takhar police, the anti-government armed militants have carried out dozens of aggressive attacks over the past two days to take control of the districts, but the Afghan security forces have repelled most of their attacks.
Spokesperson for Takhar Provincial Police HQs Khalil Asir, has said that 12 armed Taliban fighters have been killed and 8 others injured during the clashes so far.
“Clashes between afghan security forces and the Taliban are underway in some villages of Ishkamesh and Baharak districts. Fortunately, Afghan forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban. Tens of Taliban fighters have been killed in the clashes. Afghan security and defense forces are jointly making advancements on the battleground and the Afghan air force has also arrived at the scene and has been pounding hideouts of the Taliban,” Asir further added.
