Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy prime minister of the Taliban has called on the international community to provide assistance to those suffered from recent natural disasters.

In a video appeal, Baradar said the world had an obligation to help.

“The world has to support Afghan people without any political bias and carry out their humanitarian obligations. We call for the international community, NGOs and all the countries not to forget our poor people,” he said.

Baradar has ordered IEA forces, relevant bodies and the Red Cross to help those in need immediately.

This comes as several provinces have been witnessing heavy rain and snowfall that have claimed the lives of many so far.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that they will provide assistance to 22 million people in Afghanistan in 2022.

“Humanitarian aid is delivered based on the needs and vulnerabilities of people, with no distinctions on nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class, or political opinions. The goal of humanitarian actors in 2022 is to assist more than 22 million people in Afghanistan, “it said.

In a separate report, Iran, India and Pakistan have donated food and non-food items to Afghanistan.
