Afghan Interior Ministry reported on Sunday it had tightened security on the occasion of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam Hussain.

In a meeting with the commission tasked to hold Ashura, deputy interior minister, Abdul Saboor Qani, said that they required cooperation of people to ensure a better security during the Ashura.

He has also instructed heads of all security precincts in Kabul to ensure security of mosques and religious centers properly.

The deputy interior minister has also warned to dismiss security officials and introduce them to legal and judicial bodies if they neglect to ensure people’s security.
