The High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) said on Sunday that Mr. Abdullah is slated to visit India this week in order to strengthen regional consensus on the peace process.

Abdullah Abdullah will pay a visit to New Delhi on an official trip on Tuesday, Spokesman for HCNR Faridoon Khwazoon said.

He added that the purpose of the visit was to attract India’s support for the peace process and to strengthen regional consensus, and that Mr Abdullah would meet with senior Indian government officials.

Recently, in an interview with an Arab TV network, Abdullah voiced concerns over prolongation of intra-Afghan talks in Doha and warned that the process would disappoint Afghan citizens.

“People continue to support the peace process while they maintain their patience. There is a danger that the people will be disappointed if the negotiations are delayed without success, “Abdullah added.

Abdullah also urged the Afghan and Taliban negotiating teams to continue their negotiations with flexibility.

“The people of Afghan have an expectation from us to make progresses in the peace process. The negotiating sides should show flexiblity and sincerity and work on various difficult and semi-difficult agendas, “Abdullah asserted.

Elsewhere, the US Special Peace Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has traveled to Tajikistan and held talks with Tajikistan officials concerning the Afghan reconciliation process.

Earlier, the US State Department said that in his new round of visits, Khalilzad will discuss trade and transit issues with regional countries.
