Iran emphasis on preserving Afghanistan’s two-decade achievements in peace talks

Iranian Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian has paid a visit to Kabul, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
Iran’s principled policy towards Afghanistan is to support the country’s achievements over the past two decades, the Iranian embassy in Kabul said in a statement.
“Iran strongly supported the holding of presidential elections in Afghanistan, and after the elections, it made every effort to resolve differences between political rivals and build understanding between them,” the statement added.
“At this critical juncture, which efforts are underway to build up the framework of negotiations aimed at achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran paid a visit to Kabul to meet with senior Afghan officials including the president, chairman of the high peace council, the former president, the acting foreign minister, the National Security Council adviser and some other prominent political figures of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to pursue the same principled policy of maintaining the republican and constitutional structure,” the statement further added.
