Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in statement on Monday has reacted to “improper behavior” of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) with Afghan ambassador to Islamabad.

The foreign ministry said the move was in contradiction with diplomatic norms and principles.

“The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, once again calls on the Pakistani Government to align its diplomatic relations with Afghanistan in compliance with international conventions and accepted diplomatic norms,” the statement said.

The statement further adds that the Afghan government will seriously investigate claims over “harassment” of Pakistani diplomats in Kabul.

Pakistan on Monday closed consular section of its embassy in Kabul, claiming its diplomats were being harassed.

Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad rose last week after the two countries’ border forces engaged in a several-hour fighting. The fighting erupted following cross-border shelling from Pakistan on Kunar province.
